The company has filed two trademarks in UK One trademark is for "OSRS gold" as well as another in the name of "RS Gold" The filing informing that the company has registered the use of the phrases as words. This should stop third-party sites from being able to promote their sale of RS Gold.
A quick Google search on either brings up hundreds of websites, majority of them having one of the terms in their URL, offering currency in RuneScape in exchange for real money. It was announced on October 13 that Jagex is putting an end in "real-world trading". In a post on their blog "The RuneScape Team" explained that "gold that is purchased via RWT real world trading can be a problem in any online game with a traded currency."
Jagex has announced that it will start sending "messages to those that we've identified who are involved within the RWT" within "the coming hours". "For those who have been involved, we'd like to make it clear that this is your first message, and the only one," Jagex added.
Also announced was the news about the game's PvP modes, Duel Arena, would be subject to sweeping changes which include the stricter enforcement of game's code-of-conduct, in order to promote more positive gaming. Jagex says the feature "has been a flashpoint for the shady behavior".
RuneScape isn't around for 20 years simply because it's an average game that doesn't have anyone committing to over the long run. As an Buy OSRS gold it's part of the genre that appears be perpetually on the brink of being wiped out despite the popularity of a select few games.
